“There was a TV ad for a pager in 1995 that was basically the same. 

The guy is at the tattoo parlor and is being tattooed « I love Marlene ». Just as the artist is going to start the r, the guy receives a message from Marlene on his pager saying “I’m leaving you”.

Cut to the guy exiting the parlor with a “I love Mama” tattoo.”

“Would’ve been funnier if her name was Jess and he changed it to “Jessus.” Same setup/punchline but the misspelling would add another level of humor.”
