“I took a mural art tour in Paris, I believe in the 13th arrondissement (district), that used to be kind of a rough part of the city. The murals everywhere were a public work to beautify the neighborhoods and our tour guide said it was massively successful and created a real sense of community pride! Crime dropped and it became more popular with tourists.
I saw one that I suspect was by the same artist as this one, though I don’t remember the artists name. It was the back of a child’s head staring away into a series of concentric colored circles on an apartment building. What charmed me the most was the way that multiple units had color coded the umbrellas on their porches to match whichever rung of color they were within so it didn’t interrupt the design.
My favorite might have been a Vhils mural portrait (of Bob Dylan iirc?) that was made with explosive paint that scored an etching into the wall when detonated!
